Staff spotlight – get connected to Shannon McDermott
Our people are what make BeFibre BeBrilliant – and every single one of them has our five core values at their heart. So, what better way to bring those values to light, than by quizzing our colleagues on 10 quickfire questions that offer a little more insight into why they’re such a crucial part of the team?

Next to take the stage is our social media manager, Shannon McDermott…
Be proud
Tell us about your role at BeFibre – what are your key responsibilities?
My role is mainly focused on creating a smooth and engaging content plan for our social media outreach – being a part of our upcoming campaigns and working with the marketing team and other colleagues to keep the UK aware of what we’re up to!
What’s your favourite part of the job?
I love having the freedom to be creative and being able to work in a company that is so open to ideas. I also get to work with the most genuinely lovely people – which is pretty great.
Be awesome
For you, what makes BeFibre stand out from the crowd?
Having a genuinely strong product offering driven by passionate people is what really makes us stand out.
How do you think your colleagues would describe you?
Chatty!
Be bold
Describe BeFibre in three words…
Fun, friendly and ambitious.
Is there a life motto which you swear by?
Give it everything you’ve got, and it might just happen.
Be innovative
If you were stranded on a desert island, what is the one thing you couldn’t live without?
My boyfriend (is that too cringe?)
If you were the boss for a day, what one rule would you implement?
Dogs in every meeting!
Be customer-focused
Complete the sentence: When it comes to broadband, it’s crazy that people don’t know…
The difference between FTTP and FTTC. FTTP is full fibre broadband and gives you a dedicated connection that runs directly from the exchange to your property. FTTC is part fibre broadband that uses fibre optic cables to the main exchange but then uses old copper wires to connect to properties.
If you could give a colleague an award for going ‘above and beyond’ who would it be, and why?
Gosh this is a hard one, in my short time here we have seen some changes and so many of the team have gone above and beyond but one that really stands out is Sinead Gilbert, our head of marketing. She’s always there to support us all and bring out the best in everyone – despite being so busy! A shout-out to all of the team though, I never feel nervous or silly when asking for support, everyone is keen to lend a hand.
Keep your eyes peeled for more team members taking part in our Q&A series over the coming months.
